Did you know that it's very important to take care of ponds so that the living world in them can thrive?
In the past, our parents, grandparents, and ancestors created ponds to ensure a water source for drinking, irrigation, and livestock watering. Thus, small freshwater oases were created where many interesting plants and animals coexist and depend on one another. If we neglect these freshwater habitats, they can become overgrown, filled with mud, dry up, and eventually disappear. Along with them, numerous species of plants and animals would lose their homes. Mara and Maroje are native freshwater turtles that you can meet in the Dubrovnik-Neretva County in Croatia, at just a few locations. They have invited their friends to join in a cleaning action at Majkovi pond. Get to know the squad that will ensure the pond stays beautiful and healthy!
